Welcome to the UK Network of Engaged Buddhists website. Engaged Buddhism views the transformation of self and the transformation of the world as indivisible. Our membership reflects a range of different Buddhist groups and we welcome those who don’t consider themselves Buddhists but who are interested in the ideas and practice of Engaged Buddhism.
We organise retreats and produce publications. We run workshops at Buddhist events and at other key gatherings on social, ecological and political issues. We help to create a space where we can discuss, practice and organise. And we invite you to explore the principles and practice of Engaged Buddhism through our website. And to join the network.
“Walking a path of both inner and outer transformation … coming to see that our real work is the same whether we attend to ourselves, to our families, to our communities or to our larger society and ecosystems” – Donald Rothberg
“It’s my experience that the world itself had a role to play in our liberation. Its very pressures, pains and risks can wake us up – release us from the bonds of ego and guide us home to our vast true nature” – Joanna Macy
